
In what has been one of the busiest trade deadlines in recent years, it's easy to get lost in all the trades being completed. With that being said, let's round up all the trades that did go down in the month of July division-by-division...
Every team in the AL East made at least one trade, but it wasn't the usual flashy deals we are accustomed to seeing from teams in the AL East. Between the five teams, a total of 12 trades were completed with outfielder Ichiro Suzuki headlining the players joining the AL East.
New York Yankees
- Acquired right-handed reliever Chad Qualls from the Phillies in exchange for cash considerations.
- Acquired outfielder Ichiro Suzuki and cash considerations from the Mariners in exchange for minor league pitchers Danny Farquhar and D.J. Mitchell. The Yankees are only responsible for paying ~$2 million of what was left on Ichiro's $17 million this year.
- Acquired corner infielder Casey McGehee and cash considerations from the Pirates in exchange for reliever Chad Qualls.
Baltimore Orioles
- Acquired designated hitter Jim Thome from the Phillies in exchange for catcher Gabriel Lino and right-handed pitcher Kyle Simon.
- Acquired infielder Omar Quintanilla from the Mets in exchange for future considerations.
Tampa Bay Rays
- Acquired third baseman Ryan Roberts from the Diamondbacks in exchange for minor league player Tyler Bortnick.
Boston Red Sox
- Acquired right-handed reliever Jose De La Torre from the Indians in exchange for infielder Brent Lillibridge.
- Acquired left-handed reliever Craig Breslow from the Diamondbacks in exchange for right-handed reliever Matt Albers and outfielder Scott Podsednik.
- Acquired minor league pitcher Steven Wright from the Indians in exchange for first baseman Lars Anderson.
Toronto Blue Jays
- Acquired left-handed starting pitcher J.A. Happ and right-handed relievers Brandon Lyon and David Carpenter from the Astros in exchange for a seven player haul.
- Acquired right-handed reliever Brad Lincoln from the Pirates in exchange for outfielder Travis Snider.
- Acquired right-handed reliever Steve Delabar from the Mariners in exchange for outfielder Eric Thames.
