Farewell for good, Eduardo.

The Yankees have traded infielder Eduardo Nunez to the Twins for 20-year-old pitcher Miguel Sulbaran after designating the former for assignment last week to make room on the 40-man roster for Yangervis Solarte. Nunez being DFA'd gave the Yankees ten days to work out a deal with another team, which they were able to do before he was either re-signed or released completely.

Sulbaran is a 20-year-old left-handed pitcher who spent last year in the Twins organization at the Low-A level. He was previously with the Dodgers from 2011 to 2013 before he was sent to Minnesota in the Drew Butera trade. He was ranked as the Twins' 28th-best prospect before this season.

It's been quite a fall from grace for Nunez, who was once considered to be the heir apparent to Derek Jeter at shortstop. His defensive woes could not be overlooked and whatever his bat offered was not enough to counteract the extreme liability he was on defense. The Nunez era in New York lasted a bit too long for most fans who were frustrated by the large amount of rope it felt he was given by the front office, but Solarte more than out-played Nunez in spring training and has done nothing but prove taking him as the final man on the 25-man roster was the correct decision in seven games so far this season.
