Welcome to waiver season, where teams put their players on waivers and see who is interested. This process is mostly procedural, but sometimes trades can take place. When a team puts a player on waivers, they have 47 hours to be claimed. Once claimed, the claiming team has 48.5 hours to make a deal or the player's team can pull him back or hand him and his salary over for nothing.
- Mark DeRosa was claimed off waivers, but the Blue Jays have no intention of trading him.
- Mike Gonzalez of the Brewers has been put on waivers.
- Aaron Harang of the Mariners has been put on waivers.
- Dan Haren has been put on waivers.
- Brandon League of the Dodgers has been put on waivers.
- Kyle Lohse has been put on waivers.
- Placido Polanco of the Marlins has been put on waivers.
- Alex Rios has been claimed by the Rangers, who previously tried to acquire him at the deadline.
- Jimmy Rollins has cleared waivers, but won't be going anywhere.
- Adam Rosales, freshly claimed by the Rangers from the Athletics has been claimed right back by Oakland.
- Casper Wells was claimed off waivers by the Phillies and will join the team soon.
- Michael Youngcleared waivers, so the Phillies can now trade him to any team as long as he waives his no trade clause.
