The New York Yankees finish off a series against their biggest rival, while Rutgers kicks off Big East action Thursday night.
The Yanks pulled out a win in Boston on Wednesday night thanks to a pair of home runs by Curtis Granderson, but the Baltimore Orioles got a walk-off win against Tampa Bay to keep the teams locked atop the AL East. Although that gives both teams a cushion in the Wild Card should they fail to win the division, the Yankees would like to avoid that contingency. A win in the rubber match against Boston would help.
Rutgers is 2-0 with a pair of non-conference wins against Tulane and Howard, but now it gets a first taste of conference play with a matchup against South Florida in Tampa. The Scarlet Knights eked out a 20-17 win when these teams met in 2011, but that was under Greg Schiano. Senior quarterback B.J. Daniels will look to hand Kyle Flood the first loss of his tenure Thursday night in Tampa.
